Abstract:

The aim of this research paper is to investigate the effect of using KWL Plus strategy on developing some reading comprehension skills among EFL freshmen.The design of the study is pre-post,experimental –control group.The sample of the present study consisted of second year English setion students at Benha Faculty of Education (N=60).They were divided into two groups:the experimental group (N= 30) and the Control group (N=30).The experimental group stu-dents were taught using the KWL Plus Strategy ,while the control group students did not receive any training.The tools of the present study consist of a reading com-prehension test prepared by the researcher.It was applied on the study sample before and after implementing the strategy.Results of the study revealed that the EFL reading comprehension skills of the experimental group students was developed as a result of teaching through KWL Plus strategy than those of the control group.This confirmed that the KWL Plus strategy was effective in developing the EFL reading comprehension skills among EFL freshmen.
