Title: The Role of School Journalism Activity In Developing Social Behavior of Students in
the First Stage of Basic Education

This study aims at recognizing the role of school journalistic activity in developing social
behavior for students in the first stage of basic education. This study is a descriptive study. It
relies on the method of surveying sample. The analysis was conducted on a sample of school
journalistic activities in schools from different educational districts of the Qalyoubiyya
Governorate, namely Benha, Kafr Shokr, and Toukh. This was conducted during the period
from 18/9/2011 to 15/12/2011. The field research was applied to a random sample of students
in the first stage of basic education. The sample consisted of 401 students. The study used
three data collection tools, namely a questionnaire, social behavior measure, content analysis
form. The findings of the study include:
1. With respect to the social behaviors, this research found that they come in the following
order: cooperation is the first, social involvement is second, respect of others is third, and
friendship is the fourth.
2. With respect to the overall types of written journalistic skills used in school newspapers
for developing and presenting social behavior "the research sample". This study finds
that the news story is the most commonly used written journalistic skill, the article is the
second, the photograph is the third, the news report is the fourth, the caricature is the
fifth, the investigative report is the sixth, and the feature story is the seventh. |
