Abstract:

Background: The sense of sight has essential role that is very clear, and the potential effects of the disruption or weakness of this sense are clear and may cause many significant difficulties that included of physical, psychological, behavioral, social and educational aspects especially among adolescents. Aim: this study aimed to evaluate the effect of psycho- educational program for enhancement of self-compassion, tolerance of ambiguity and body Image among blind adolescents. Research design: A quasi-experimental research design was utilized (pretest- posttest with follow-up) . Setting: The study was conducted in Al Noor School for the blind students at Benha City - Qalyubia Governorate. Subjects: A purposive sample of 50 students of preparatory and secondary school were included in this study. Tools: Four different tools were used; Tool (1): A structured Interviewing Questionnaire Sheet, Tool (2): Self-Compassion scaleTool (3) Ambiguity Tolerance scale , and Tool (4): Body image scale. Results: There is statistically significant positive correlation between study variables in which that higher self-compassion is associated with more positive body image and greater tolerance of ambiguity among adolescents. Conclusion: These results proved of efficacy of psycho- educational program for enhancement of self compassion, tolerance of ambiguity and body image among blind adolescents. Recommendations: Develop many intervention plans for reducing negative body image perception and also for the enhancing self-compassion and tolerance of ambiguity among blind adolescents.
