Abstract:

The real world is not always a supportive learning environment. Clinical sites are unpredictable and sometimes border on chaos students. The aim of the study is to determine internship year problems and its effect on intern-nurses satisfaction at Benha University Hospital. The subjects contain 122 intern-nurses, 29 faculty members and 16 hospital nursing administrators. There were two tools used for data collection: internship year problems questionnaires and intern-nurses satisfaction questionnaire. The result of the present study showed that the most frequent problem related to study subjects was related to gap between nursing education and nursing practice. The majority of intern-nurses had a problem related to lack of place for storage of belongings and the majority of faculty members had a problem related to not coping with advanced technology of devices. Regarding the intern-nurses' satisfaction the finding showed that more than half of intern-nurses were dissatisfied with internship year The study recommended that, the need for foster positive collaboration between education and service to strengthening the ties between education and practice through discussion the expectation of both partners, orientation program should be developed for faculty members who will be involved in supervising and evaluating the intern-nurses to introduce to the skills required for supervision, training and evaluation.
