Abstract:

The discovery of novel and sustainable methods to synthesize nanoparticles (NPs) has attracted a lot of attention because of their distinctive properties, unique nanosized, and future applications. Nowadays, surfactants are among the best choices for usage as dispersion agents or inducers in the production of NPs. Herein, four novel compounds (4a-d) with polyethylene glycol spacer and quaternary ammonium moiety as polar heads were synthesized through three main reaction steps and fully characterized. Furthermore, the ionic liquid-based cationic gemini surfactants (4a-d) surface activity and thermodynamic characteristics have been investigated. The surfactants 4a–c were used as inducers at a concentration of 200 ppm for the preparation of Cu2O nanoparticles (NPs).
