Abstract:

This paper discusses the importance of obtaining different results from single one-piece designs, as this is an important issue for both the one piece textile designer and the apparel designer, especially when they decide to avoid producing (identical designs) through (mass production) that only differ in the sizes of the targeted clients. There is also an increasing demand of this need in different markets and social levels, especially that there are lot of clients that don’t want to pay the high price of a unique design piece like (Haute Couture) because it is very expensive as known, and also don't want to wear repetitive designs that have been produced in large amounts with identical silhouettes, embroidery and printing designs and shapes. Therefore, the printing textile designer and apparel designer should collaborate to find a technical solution in order to satisfy the market need of this kind of clients. In order to achieve this objective, the two authors of this paper have co-operated to design a small collection that consists of (6) executed pieces that have the same silhouette (one piece design) but differ in colors, kinds of fabric, the used (dyeing and printing techniques) and embroidery techniques, which has created a difference in each of the (6) pieces only and added a sense of uniqueness to it. The concept of the paper depends on not making one piece as (Haute Couture) or high sewing, and not (ready to wear) like mass production, (it is like A brand’s diffusion line), that allows the designer to create more causal and less expensive pieces, because the clients want the couture look, but at more accessible and affordable price point, according a lot of questioners and many focus groups.
