This study aimed to evaluate immunohistochemistry in diagnosis of toxoplasmosis in pregnant women by comparing it with ELISA test, histopathological and epidemiological studies. The study was carried out on 100 pregnant ladies aging from16 to 44 years old attending the Obstetric and Gynecology Department of the Benha University Hospital, 75 patients had complicated pregnancy while 25 cases with normal pregnancy were taken as control. Most cases fall in age group of 21-30 years and the infection rate was higher in rural than urban. The highest percentage of females in case and control groups was contact with soil (58%, 28% respectively). The highest percentage of occupation was house wife among females with complicated pregnancy(54.6%), while in control group was worker female (48%). total positive IgG in studied groups was 41% the difference between the two groups was statistically insignificant. the total positive IgM in studied groups was 11%. The difference between two groups was statistically insignificant. There is a significant difference between the two groups was found at the age between 21-30 years (P 0.05). Farmer occupation was the highest percentage, housewife was the lowest percentage. The difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P < 0.05). |
