Abstract:

In this paper the performance of PV with Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) control techniques are studied. Different control techniques are studied, as: conventional perturb and observe (P&O) method with fixed and variable perturbation step, P&O with conventional PI controller, incremental conductance (IC) method with fixed and variable perturbation step, and IC based on fuzzy logic control. The comparison criteria between the algorithms are considered to be: the percentage tracking factor, the ripple voltage in the steady-state, the dynamic response, and the complexity of the implementation. These comparison criteria are investigated for selecting the best MPPT control technique for a standalone PV system.
