Abstract:

The main objective Of this is to reach a global and suitable framework -through a group of Axes- for promoting Intra-Arab Trade (IAT) under the international and regional developments. The research includes four main parts, which are briefly the following: The First Part: The basic aspects of the Intra-Arab Trade. This part discusses the development of (IAT) and the important aspects of the commodities structure and trends of this trade. The Second Part : Obstacles of (IAT) development. This part designates two types of Obstacles. The first type is related to the economies of Arab countries, while the second type sheds light upon the developed countries trade policies towards the Arab countries. The Third Part: The International and regional developments. This part is concerned with setting out the following : 1- The Economic reform policies in European countries and the Soviet Union . 2- Regional economic blocks (European Union) Egyptian Review of Development and Planning No.2-1996 3- The area of the Middle East market. 4- Economic reform programmes in Arab countries. 5- Uruguay Round (UR) of multilateral trade negotiations under GATT: The essential results and effects The research concentrates on the last issue through the following: - A short idea about GATT. - Uruguay Round results specially those concerning the Arab countries. - The positive and negative effects of Uruguay Round on Arab countries - Finally the fourth part deals with the six main axes necessary for developing (IAT). These axes are briefly the following: - The First axis : Maximizing the expected positive results of (UR), and minimizing its negatives - The Second axis : Establishing an Arab free trade area. - The Third axis: Restructuring the Arab Countries economics. - The Fourth axis: Creating the suitable circumstances for many Arab investments in the sectors which are producing commodities related to (IAT) - The Fifth axis: Developing the necessary services for (IAT) processes, such as: financing, marketing, and transportation The sixth axis : Improving the quality of Arab commodities specially those connected with (IAT).
