The study aimed to assess mothers' knowledge and attitude regarding care of their children undergoing chemotherapy. The study conducted at the pediatric oncology unit in specialized pediatric hospital in Benha, which is the only established known place in Kalubia that provides care to such children. Descriptive design was utilized to conduct the study. The study involved a purposive sample of (100) children undergoing chemotherapy and their accompanying mothers attending the above mentioned setting over 6 month's period. Data were collected by two research tools: An Arabic questionnaire sheet to assess the mothers' knowledge and Likert-type rating scale to assess mothers' attitude towards care of their children undergoing chemotherapy. The results illustrated that, there was a statistical significant difference between mothers' type of house, level of mothers' education, mothers' age and their total level of knowledge about care of their children undergoing chemotherapy. More than one third of mothers has positive attitude towards care of their children undergoing chemotherapy. In conclusion, the mothers have good knowledge regarding care of their children undergoing chemotherapy at home, while their knowledge was poor regarding complications, causes/predisposing factors and clinical manifestations of childhood cancer, also care of physical problem that may occur after chemotherapy administration, care during and after chemotherapy administration. The study recommends continuous educational program for mothers to develop their knowledge and attitude regarding care of their children undergoing chemotherapy.
