Abstract:

The present study aimed at investigating the effectiveness of a training program based on social responsibility in developing the three components of moral behaviour (moral judgment, empathy and altruism) among secondary school students. The final study sample consisted of 58 male and female students in the first grade at the secondary education stage, Qouweisna Educational Administration, Menoufiya Governorate, during the academic year 2016-2017. Their age ranged from 15 to 17 years old. They were divided into two groups: experimental group (n= 29 male and female students) and control group (n= 29 male and female students). Four tools were used: Social responsibility scale, moral reasoning scale for adults, empathy scale developed by Jolliffe and Farrington, 2006, and translated into Arabic by the present study researcher, and Altruism behaviour scale, developed by Abdul-Moneim Araffa, 2003. Study findings revealed that the suggested training program based on social responsibility was effective in developing the three components of moral behaviour (moral judgment, empathy and altruism) among secondary school students.
