Abstract:

This study was done on 97 couples complaining of unexplained infertility. They comprised 3 groups : the first group included 39 couples who have done 52 IUI treatment cycles. The second group included 30 couples who have done 40 DIPI treatment cycles. While the last group included 28 couples who have done 30 treatment cycles. They were treated by combined IUI & DIPI. All the female partners were given the same protocol to induce ovulation. Sperm preparation was done by the same preparation technique for all male partners. Folliculometry was done till the average diameter of the leading follicle reached 18 - 20 mm when hCG was given followed 33 - 36hr. later by insemination. Four pregnancies occured 1 in the first group with a pregnancy rate 2.6% per coples, 1 in the second group with a pregnancy rate 3.33% per couples and 2 in the last group with a pregnancy rate 7.1% per couples. There were no significant difference between any two groups regarding results of treatment. A result suggests the use of IUI, DIPI or IUI & DIPI as a primary line of treatment of unexplained infertility
