Abstract:

Benha M. J. Vol.8 No 1 . Jan. 1991 STUDY OF MICROALBUMINURIA IN PATIENTS WITH ACUTE VIRAL HEPATITIS El-Metwally El-Shahawy MD, Mohamed Mostafa MD, Abdel Shafi Tabl MD, Adel El-Sheikh MD, Nabil A. Khattab MD, Yehia Saddik MD and Alaa Ibrahim MD. Department of Internal Medicine, Benha Faculty of Medicine, Egypt. . Abstract Microalbuminuria; detected by radioimmunoassay, was studied in 25 patients with acute viral hepatitis. Nineteen of them were HBsAg positive and 6 were HBsAg negative . Thor-ough clinical examination and investigations were done to exclude any medical illness that might cause microalbuminuria . Significant microalbumimiria was reported in patients with acute viral hepatitis compared to control group (t =11.01, P< 0.001) Moreover, the mean microalbuminuria in hepatitis B positive patients was statistically higher than that of HBsAg negative patients (t=2.5, P<0.01). Therefore early detection of miodalbumihuria by radioimmunoassay may be considered as an early marker of nephropathy in the course of acute hepatitis B disease .
