Abstract
Microalbuminuria; detected by radioimmunoassay, was studied in 25 patients with acute viral hepatitis. Nineteen of them were HBsAg positive and 6 were HBsAg negative . Thor-ough clinical examination and investigations were done to exclude any medical illness that might cause microalbuminuria . Significant microalbumimiria was reported in patients with acute viral hepatitis compared to control group (t =11.01, P< 0.001) Moreover, the mean microalbuminuria in hepatitis B positive patients was statistically higher than that of HBsAg negative patients (t=2.5, P<0.01). Therefore early detection of miodalbumihuria by radioimmunoassay may be considered as an early marker of nephropathy in the course of
acute hepatitis B disease .
