ABSTRACT
This study was carried out on 30 patients with active S. mansoni infection, 22 were males and 8 were females their ages ranged between 14 and 61 years (Mean 35,5 ± 11.5).
All cases were free of any medical disease other than bilharzial infectiorfwith S. mansoni. The patients were subjected to laboratory investigations including liver and kidney function tests and estimation of microalbuminuria by radioimmunoassay.
Microalbuminuria was found higher in patients with intestinal schistosomiasis (16.2 ± 3.53) than in the control (7.44 ± 3.27) P < 0.001 . We conclude that patients with active S. mansoni have micro¬albuminuria which can be considered as an early prediction of bilharzial nephropathy.
