Abstract:

2-Pyrimidyl acrylamide monomer (2PA) has been prepared by the reaction of 2- amino pyrimidine with acrylolyl chloride in the presence of triethylamine as catalyst. Its structure was confirmed by IR and 1 H NMR spectroscopy. Ternary copolymerizations of 2- pyrimidyl acrylamide monomer (2PA) with methyl acrylate (MA), methyl methacrylate (MMA), ethyl acrylate (EA), butyl acrylate (BuA) and acrylonitrile (AN) were carried out in THF at 65 C in the presence of a free radical initiator.
