Abstract:

This study aimed to identify the degree of agricultural extension centers for major roles in development, in Sinai Peninsula, through the identification of the degree of its main roles : (educational role , planning role , coordinating role and consolidation role ) , identify the most important work problems , and identify the most important suggestion to develop and improve the quality of services provided . The study was conducted in Sinai Peninsula " North Sinai and South Sinai governorates" , the study included all agricultural extension centers , totaling (8) centers , Data were collected during March and April 2009 by personal interview using a pretested questionnaire , percentages, and the means were used to analyze the data Statistically . The study showed the following results: = With regard to the degree of agricultural extension centers for major roles from the point of view of officials of the centers : - (25%) of them mentioned that the degree of agricultural extension centers for Educational role was medium , while (75%) of them mentioned that it was high. - All of them (100%) mentioned that the degree of agricultural extension centers for Planning role was high . - (12.50%) of them mentioned that the degree of agricultural extension centers for Coordinating role was low grade , while (25%) of them mentioned that it was medium , but (62.50%) of them mentioned that was high . - (12.50%) of them mentioned that the degree of agricultural extension centers for Consolidation role was low grade , while (87.50%) of them mentioned that it was high . - (12.50%) of them mentioned that the degree of the overall role of agricultural extension centers was low grade , while (87.50%) of them mentioned that it was high . = With regard to the degree of agricultural extension centers for major roles from the point of view of agricultural extension agents : - (3.85%) of them mentioned that the degree of agricultural extension centers for Educational role was low grade , while (38.46%) of them mentioned that it was medium , but (57.69%) of them mentioned that was high - (42.31%) of them mentioned that the degree of agricultural extension centers for Planning role was medium , while (57.69%) of them mentioned that it was high. - (3.85%) of them mentioned that the degree of agricultural extension centers for Coordinating role was low grade , while (57.69%) of them mentioned that it was medium , but (23.08%) of them mentioned that was high - (30.77%) of them mentioned that the degree of agricultural extension centers for Consolidation role was medium, while (69.23%) of them mentioned that it was high. - (46.15%) of them mentioned that the degree of the overall role of agricultural extension centers was medium , while (53.85%) of them mentioned that it was high . = With regard to major employment problems in the agricultural extension centers studied : - The study showed that the lack of funding for various activities , inadequate maintenance of buildings and appliances and equipment , low wages and material incentives , the difficulty of dealing with the target and convince them the best , lack of agricultural extension workers in some areas, the breadth of supervision, lack of awareness of the targeted concept and philosophy of agricultural extension, lack of participation in target activities of the Center Extension, a lack of communication and transportation, poor preparation and training of extension workers, the scope of work of the Center Extension of the biggest potential, and the lack of degrees of financial (staff as appropriate) for workers are the most important employment problems in agricultural extension centers studied from the point of view of officials of the centers . - The study also , showed that low wages and material incentives, and inadequate maintenance of buildings and equipment , lack of funding for various activities , weak security services , the difficulty of dealing with the target and convince them the best , the lack of means communication, lack of balance in the allocation of financial resources for extension activities , dissatisfaction with the target of the Center Extension Whatever he does for them, and the lack of financial accommodation "appropriate staff" personnel, and the absence of a specific policy plans, programs and activities of the Center Extension are the most important employment problems in agricultural the point of view of agricultural extension agents .
