Abstract:

This research studies the impact of non-physical governance networks on the spatial articulation of residential areas in Nasr City between 1974:1952. The beginning of the period represented a clear paradigm shift in the political forces when the free officers took over the reins of government. Thus, many changes in the governance networks' system happened. This paradigm shift led to urban transformation and the dominance of spatial articulations of residential areas similar to western areas of solids and voids and influenced by modernism. On the other hand, the end of the period is the economic openness which is the turning point for the economic forces and the next paradigm shift. This study relied on analyzing the governance networks influencing the spatial articulation of the fourth district in Nasr City and extrapolating those governance networks to the case study. Meanwhile, it aims to identify the spatial articulations of the urban in the case study between 1974:1952. Furthermore, to show the impact of governance networks and their system on the spatial articulations in the fourth district.
