Telemedia is a company based in Chicago, U.S.A. engaged in international educational consulting. Within the framework of contract between Telemedia and the Egyptian Air Academy to implement a modernization program, I was hired by Telemedia to teach computer courses at the Academy, as well as to develop course materials at the P.O I. (Program Of Instruction) writing office.

As a consultant with T.E.A. Computers, which is a company representing Data General, Computer Vision, and CPT systems in Egypt, I was engaged in tailoring systems, providing technical advice, recommending systems and products, and acting as a technical laison. Also, worked on some key projects involving adaptation to Arabic of several computer systems.

Reporting to the vice president of engineering, responsible for directing a group of 23 hardware and software engineers. Project management: Intelligent graphics terminal with local memory for vector storage. Conducted extensive market study on high resolution color monitors and graphics processors . Prepared product proposal for viable new product, was approved by top management and development was authorized

Taught computer engineering and circuits courses to EE undergraduates. Also taught graduate courses in software engineering.

Managed firmware/software of 12 engineers. Responsible for: Firmware operating systems of microprocessor-based service instruments Design of user interface Development of a high level language for diagnostic program generation Development of all common digital modules Development of mass storage units for portable instrumentation. Managed a separate cost center, responsible for resource planning and staffing. Additional involvement included: Engineering/Marketing task force chartered to define market segments, product features and strategy for Digital Service Instruments Organization and presentation of seminars/workshops on microprocessors and technological trends to Tektronix Vice Presidents, Division Managers, and top managers. Numerous strategic committees and task forces on future products, and job definitions for software and firmware engineers. Project Leader, Information Display Division Managed a group of 4 engineers in the design of a high-level language computer architecture (one of the first 32-bit computer architectures) and in the implementation of a virtual memory system and operating system firmware. In addition: Design and development of an intelligent interface between Tektronix Programmable Desktop Calculator and the Digital Processing Oscilloscope Design and development of an interactive high level language and language interpreter Design and development of the firmware for controller.
