Backdrop: A continuous care model is beneficial in enhancing healthy lifestyle and self-care
practices for patients post total knee arthroplasty. Aim: This study was designed to evaluate the effect
of the continuous care model on healthy lifestyle among patients post total knee arthroplasty.
Research design: A quasi-experimental design was carried out in this research. Setting: This study
was implemented at Orthopedic Out patient Clinic at Benha Health Insurance Hospital and the studied
patients` homes. Sample: A purposive sample of 64 patients post total knee arthroplasty was included
in this study. Tools for data collection: Three tools were applied, I: A structured interview
questionnaire which covered socio demographic characteristics of the patients, medical history, and
knowledge regarding total knee arthroplasty, II: Healthy lifestyle post total knee arthroplasty and III:
Quality of life scale of patients post total knee arthroplasty. Results: 20.3% of the studied patients
had good knowledge level regarding total knee arthroplasty pre continuous care model
implementation which raised to 76.6% post continuous care model implementation, 29.7% of the
studied patients had satisfactory level regarding total healthy lifestyle post total knee arthroplasty pre
continuous care model implementation which enhanced to 79.7% post continuous care model
implementation, and 28.1% of the studied patients had good level of total quality of life post total
knee arthroplasty pre continuous care model implementation which improved to 76.6% post
continuous care model implementation |
