Quality assurance is an area of changing expectations and attitudes. There is clearly an increasing appreciation of the need for health care institutions and health professionals to be more proactive in undertaking quality assurance, studying the findings and taking appropriate measures to minimize adverse events in health care. The study aimed to assess nurses' awareness regarding Quality Assurance in Benha University Hospitals. The study sample were composed of (270) nurses included (130) nurses at general medical departments, and (140) nurses at surgical departments, they must have not less than one year experience in their field setting. Tool was used for data collection; A structured questionnaire was developed by the researcher; it contained several items as concept of quality assurance in hospital (5 items). The resources required to implement quality assurance in hospital (10 items). Follow-up and maintenance of resources (7 items). The role of the nurse in the hospital's quality assurance (9 items). Nursing staff development (8 items). The role of management in the application of quality assurance in hospital (22 items). The role of the Quality Assurance team at the hospital (11 items).The result showed that the highest percent of nurses were aware about quality assurance, there was no significant correlation between nurses` awareness and their education and also their years of experience, and nurses` awareness was significantly and negatively correlated with their age. The study recommended; Nursing members from different category must be involved in different committees related to quality issues in the hospital, & the hospital should conduct periodic assessment to ensure the application of quality assurance.
