Abstract:

In this paper, a fuzzy logic controller has been developed for controlling power level in nuclear research reactors. The particle swarm optimization algorithm has been used for Off-line optimization of the controller parameters. The Second Egyptian Testing and Research Reactor (ETRR-2) has been selected as a test bed for the proposed controller. The optimization and testing processes are implemented in MATLAB Simulink under different operation scenarios. The results of the simulation process revealed that the proposed control algorithm has an efficient performance for both steady state and transient control operations in nuclear research reactors.
