Abstract: |
Many studies on electrical motors need the simulation of the transient performance. Due to the finite stiffness of shafts, shaft torsional dynamics are included in this simulation. Torsional oscillations increase the stresses on the mechanical system components and may lead to mechanical failure. In this paper, based on commonly used model, the simulation of electrical motors with shaft torsional dynamics is reviewed, and some observations about the accuracy of simulation are found. Consequently, recommendations are proposed to avoid considerable inaccuracy in the simulation. The proposed recommendations are verified by results. |
