Abstract:

Industrial design is working on developing usability aspects associated with industrial product in relation to humans and surrounded environment , and add functional utility and performance benefit for things that used by human in his daily life. It has been observed Increased use of housewives and residents of the house on a daily basis for the kitchen hand tools like scissors , knives …., in the preparation and processing of food, and many of these tools are not match hands of users, which may lead to injuries, In addition feeling of uncomfortable when using those tools, and that due to many of these tools do not comply with ergonomic considerations . So that designing ergonomic kitchen hand tools is considered important issue that industrial designers must take it in account to minimize potential injuries and provide comfort and satisfaction of users . The research methodology based on descriptive and analytical surveys , and is divided into three sections. The first section is about ergonomics and anthropometry of the hand. The second section is about types of hand grasps and grips and essential kitchen hand tools. And finally third section is about design considerations of some essential kitchen hand tools and the ergonomic considerations must applied in designing them .The Findings and recommendations of research clarifies that by using ergonomically designed kitchen hand tools, users can avoid injures , simplify work and reduce effort ,and Industrial designers must contribute in applying ergonomic considerations to design ergonomic kitchen hand tools .
