This review presents the general features and conclusions of this research entitled " Ergonomics Considerations of children school backpacks design in the field of Industrial Design", the research is about the Ergonomics of school bags for children in primary education, which has become the most common, appropriate and usable method by children in schools to carry books and other studying materials to and from school, one of the main reasons for this concern was the damage and injuries that school bags, especially backpacks for children may cause, such as musculoskeletal injuries and spine pains.
This research aims to draw the attention of both industrial designers and ergonomists to design school backpacks for children in primary education according to the ergonomics considerations and their human and psychological abilities, to guide parents to the correct and appropriate standards for selecting those bags for the children, in addition to the needed steps to take so as to prevent / or reduce back injuries and musculoskeletal injuries that occur to the children in schools resulting from excessive weight or the wrong way of wearing and carrying those bags.
The research dealt with number of issues starting from presenting some facts about school backpacks for children in primary education, warning signs and symptoms of risks and injuries resulting from carrying them, the contributing factors leading to those risks and injuries, and ways of preventing children from the disorders resulting from the misuse of backpacks. The researcher devised some guiding lines for parents to guide them in choosing backpacking for their children according to the accurate and appropriate standards, as well, the researcher developed a number of ergonomics considerations for the design of school backpacks for children of primary education, in addition to conclusions, recommendations and references.
