Abstract:

This work is intended to elucidate the most important risk factors playing a role in inducing accidents among workers of Metalco Company for Metalic construction at Shobra El Mazallat, Cairo. Data were collected from this factory, during the year 1987, about age, occupation of workers, nature, site of injury in the body, seasonal variation and the possible risk factors. The accident rates and the relative and attributable risks were estimated according to Encyclopaedia of Occupational Health and Safety, 1983. The study pointed out the following conclusions: Falling objects were responsible for the highest accident incidance rate; drug missuse, job stress and alcoholism were the most important risk factors among the studied workers.
