Abstract:

The sensitivity and specificity of ELISA in human strongyloidiasis have been evaluated using lypholized larval antigen suspended in PBS(7.2). The study included 78 patients proven to have Strongyloides stercolaris infection, 26 normal indviduals and 42 patients with differnet endemic parasitic infections.Sensitivity was 79.5% and specificity was 98.5%.No cross reaction between S.stercolaris antigen and Schistosoma mansoni, Fasciola hepatica, Ascaris lumbricoides,Oxyurisand Hymenolepis nana was detected. Only one of the eight cases of Giardia lamblia infection showed cross reaction
