Abstract:

The prevalence of parasite infection for the increasing incidence of asthma is a topic of considerable debate .In Egypt , studies examining the association between toxocariasis and bronchialasthma in children are lacking. This study assessed the relation between Toxocaraseropositivity and resistant bronchial asthma among children by examination of 3 children groups ;resistant asthmatic ,responsive asthmatic and non asthmatic control group using ELISA .The results showed that the percentage of Toxocaraseropositivity among asthmatic children wad significantly higher (26.7%) than the other two groups (0%). Urticaria , itching , cat and dog contact and mean eosinophilic percent were significantly increased in both asthmatic groups.InToxocara seropositive ,respiratory troubles , itching and urticarial were significantly increased .This study ensured the importance of toxocariasis as a neglected probable etiology for resistant bronchial asthma in children of our local community and should alarm the health professionals to consider the possibility of this infection during their trials to overcome the irresponsiveness of bronchial asthma in children
