Abstract:

Purpose: To investigate the effect of posterior tibial nerve electrical stimulation (PTN) combined with sacral surface therapeutic electrical stimulation (SSTES) in the treatment of overactive bladder. Patient and methods: Sixty incontinent patients due to over active bladder were included in this study. Their ages ranged from 14-63 years (42 ± 12.5). They were randomly divided into two equal groups. Procedures: Group (A) received a 12-week of treatment with sacral surface electrodes and posterior tibial nerve faradic electrical stimulation for 15 mins 3 times /week. Group (B) underwent pelvic floor exercises for 15 mins 3 times/week for 12 weeks. Results: This study revealed that the bladder stability in (A) group showed 48.69% improvement which was highly statistically significant (P0.05) for group (B). Post-treatment comparisons revealed a statistical significant difference (P
