Abstract:

Binary and ternary copper complexes were synthesized from the reactions of Cu(NO3)2, amino acids (N-acetylvaline, av, N- acetylphenylalanine, apa, and N-acetyltryptophan, atp), and heterocyclic nitrogen ligands (2,2′-bipyridine, bpy, and 1,10-phenanthroline, phen). The complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, IR, EPR, and mass spectrometry. The dioxo dinuclear bipyridine copper complex was studied by X-ray structure analysis. The analysis revealed that it crystallized in the triclinic space group P1 with a Z value of 1. The crystal packing showed three-dimensional supramolecular arrangements of the molecules stabilized by intra- and intermolecular hydrogen bonds.
