Background: As a biological problem, infertility affects people psychologically on a personal andsocial level. Therefore, it would be reasonable to anticipate psychological effects followinganinfertility diagnosis. Aim of the study: was to evaluate the effect of emotional regulationprogramon marital satisfaction and psychological wellbeing among women with infertility. Researchdesign:Quasi-experimental research design Pre-post (study and control group) was conducted. Setting: Thestudy was carried out at obstetric clinic affiliated to Benha University Hospital, Egypt. Subject: Apurposive sample of (60) women with infertility was chosen. Interviewing questionnaire, II: Emotion Regulation Questionnaire, III: Marital SatisfactionScale, IV: Psychological Well-Being Scale. Results: t-test indicated that there were significant differencesin emotional regulation, marital satisfaction and psychological wellbeing between the twogroupsafter the intervention (p < 0.05) of the emotional regulation program. There was statisticallysignificant positive correlation between total mean score of emotional regulation, marital
satisfaction and psychological wellbeing among study group post programimplementation. Conclusion: the emotional regulation program sessions applied in the current studyhassignificantly improved the marital satisfaction and psychological wellbeing among the studiedwomen with infertility. Recommendations: recommended that medical centers and fertilityclinicsinclude emotion regulation programs as an essential part of the infertility treatment plan toimprovepsychological adjustment and ability to cope with stress. |
