Abstract:

Nursing Compliance with National Standards Guidelines of Infection Prevention at Obstetric Unit ABSTRACT Background: National standard precautions are widely adopted to prevent the transmission of infection among health care workers. Aim of the study: To upgrade nursing compliance with national standards guidelines of Infection Prevention at obstetric unit.Design:Quasi-experimental (An intervention) study design was utilized. Setting: The study was conducted in the obstetric unit at Benha university hospital .Sample type: A convenient sample. Sample size: All nurses (45)who were working in the above setting. Tools for datacollection: An interviewing questionnaire,Observational checklist and modified Likert scale. Results:The mean age of the studied nurses was 26.20±7.05 years.There was highly significant improvement in nurses’ knowledge, practice and attitude regarding compliance with infection prevention national standards at different times of the study. Conclusion:There was a highly significant improvement in nurses’ knowledge, practice and attitude after application of instructional guideline of infection prevention national standards. This supported the main hypothesis of the study. Recommendations: Frequently consider thenational standards of infection prevention measuresadopted by the ministry of healthwith wider context in nursing curriculum and in obstetric unit in all hospitals in Qualyopia governorate.Finally further study aboutInvestigate the effect of socio-demographic characteristics of nursing compliance with national standards guideline.
