The main objective of this research is to evaluate the influence of using plastic sheets with two colours red and clear white located on the soil and or used as low tunnels covers on growth and productivity of pepper. The obtained results indicated that the maximum, minimum, daylight average, and nightly average of the air temperatures recorded outside and inside the different treatment during the growing period ranged from 21.97 to 42.17, 2.05 to 10.69, 13.95 to 32.67 and 4.56 to 13.94°C, respectively. The maximum, minimum, daylight average, and nightly average of the air relative humidity recorded outside and inside the different treatment during the growing period ranged from 77.18 to 98.29, 25.71 to 65.04, 38.48 to 81.84 and 70.18 to 95.14%, respectively. The maximum, minimum and daylight average of the soil temperature recorded for the different treatment during the growing period ranged from 15.12 to 24.68, 12.98 to 21.98 and 14.38 to 23.27°C, respectively. The maximum and daylight average of the solar radiation recorded for the different treatment during the growing period ranged from 383.30 to 643.80 and 184.37 to 328.96 W m-2, respectively. The height of pepper plant for all treatments ranged from 34.62 to 71.76 cm. The stem diameter values of pepper plant ranged from 10.18 to 26.07 cm for different treatments. The number of leaves and number of branches values of pepper plant ranged from 78.29 to 226.78 and 29.35 to 106.98, respectively, for different treatments. The internode length values of pepper plant ranged from 3.02 to7.10 cm for different treatments. The leaf area values of pepper plant ranged from 12.78 to 27.81 cm2 for different treatments. The total yield values of pepper plant ranged from 498.71 to 1205.62 g plant-1 for different treatments. |
