Abstract:

The present study ainied to study the toxical effect of some plant extracts on cotton leafworm, Spodoptera littoralis (Boisd). Petroleum ether was used as a solvent to extract effective components from some plants as Term imialia arjuna , Erythrine caffra , Taxodium distichum and Melaleuca cajupliti. Treatm emit of 41/3 instar larvae with each of the four plant extracts caused clear mnortality(25-57) . The reduction in F1 progeny (1.5-44.1), elongation of the larval duration, and pupal period at any of the tested concentration was noticed (17-33). There was nioderate gradient reduction in the pupation percentage of the different treatments (71) in compared to control (93.3). Moderate fluctuation observed among sex ratio(1:2.3,). Percentages of adult emergence amid growth was inhibited with increasing the concentratiom,s as observed in four plant extracts (1. 7) compared to control( 2.9) . I
