Abstract:

Aim : the aim of this study was to evaluate the value of serum unconjugated estriol levels as predictor of preterm labour , and to detect cut off value of unconjugated serum estriol as a perditor of preterm labour . Patient methods : this study included 60 pregnant women their gestional ages ranged from 26 weeks to before completed 37 weeks and they were classified into 2 group :A ) STUDY GROUP : this group included 30 pregnant women preseting with symptoms of early theartened preterm labor and considered as high risk group e.g history of preterm birth , history of PROM , history spontaneous midtirmesteric loss of last pregnancy before 37 weeks’ gestation , vaginal bleeding after 14 weeks in current pregnancy. B) control group : this group included 30 pregnant women without risk lactors of preterm labour . Result : the mean level unconjugated serum estriol measured at case group were significantly higher when compared to control group so the increase of unconjugated serumesteiol level had good prognostic in the diagnosis of preterm labor . The optimal cut off value of unconjugated serum estriol as a predactor of preterm labor is 2.8 ng/ml because it’s diagnostic accuracy is 78.3 % .
