Abstract:

In the present study, we study theoretically the detection of brain lesions by using the defected one-dimensional photonic crystal. The transfer matrix method is used to analyze the optical transmission characteristics of one-dimensional photonic crystals. The device performance is verifed by measuring the red shift in resonant wavelength when the refractive index of brain lesions layer changes from 1.3333 to 1. 4833. Through the shifting spectrum, the sensitivity of the designed sensor for oligodendroglioma cells reaches to 3080.808 nm/RIU. The high fgure of merit [FOM=6.1×107 (1/RIU)] is achieved which evaluates the sensing performance comprehensively
