This study reviewed the spine anatomy, with its three dimensional nature and the growing of the spine, then the biomechanics of the spine and the biomechanics of the forces which act by the three dimensions corrective implants were discussed.
The different theories which discuss the causes of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis were reviewed.
We reviewed all methods of diagnosis, clinical evaluation and radiological studies, followed by discussing classifications and methods of treatment
We also reviewed the possible complications which may result from surgical correction of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis.
This study was done on thirty patients complaining of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis at ages ranged from thirteen to twenty five years old, the operative part was done in spine unite (Naser Institute Hospital) and El-Talba health Insurance Hospital.
Those patients were treated by correcting their spine deformity by posterior fixation and fusion with Hypride system (hooks, wires and screws). Anterior surgery for release was done when indicated. The results of the surgical correction were collected immediately after surgery, and then during, and after the follow up period.
All the results was statistically analyzed to get positive data and correlation between them, complications was discussed whether after surgery or at the follow up period.
Comparison of our results with other authors' results and analysis of the causes which led to difference between them was comparable.
This study prove that surgical correction of Adolescent Idiopathic Scoliosis and fixation using three dimensional system till fusion occurred and correction by wire tightening after fixation of the rod superior and inferior Ancors was safe, simple and easy method to correct the deformity in sagittal, coronal, and axial plane.
This study also proved that pain in patients complaining of spine deformity was reduced post-operatively after correction of lumber curve and thorathic kyphosis. Most patients were satisfied by the results of surgery especially after improvement of there appearance.
