Abstract:

Technology is all over and affects student's achievement in positive ways. The study aimed to assess the effect of technology based program on the academic achievement of pediatric nursing students. A quasi experimental design was utilized. The study settings The current study was conducted in Pediatric Nursing Department Skill Lab - Faculty of Nursing - Benha University. The study sample: A convenient sample of all pediatric nursing students in the academic year - were enrolled in the study. Tools of data collection included; the first tool ( ): consisted of two parts part ( ): A structured interviewing quesrionnaire sheet: to collect data about characteristics of students, part ( ): Pediatric nursing practical knowledge test (Pre / Post prgram): This part was developed to evaluate the students’ practical knowledge regarding selected pediatric nursing procedures. The second tool ( ): observational checklists of pediatric nursing procedures: the checklists were used to evaluate the practice of the students regarding nursing procedures and the third tool ( ) was technological services usage questionnaire sheet. This questionnaire was developed to evaluate the students’ uses of technological methods. The fourth tool ( ): System Usability Scale: this scale used to determine the actual practices of using the technological methods. The results: This study revealed that, the most percent of the study group had poor knowledge about pediatric nursing procedures pre-intervention; while the most percent had have very good knowledge level in post intervention. The study concluded that: students who received the technology based program have improved their academic achievement more than students who don't receive the program. The study recommended: Technology based program should be used during learning process to enhance and improve the academic achievement of students.
