The present investigation was carried out to evaluate the effect of bacillus thuringiensisvarkurstaki on hemolymph volume, haemolymph density, total and differential hemocyte counts of 4th instar larvae of spodopteralittoralis at different time intervals post treatment ( 6,12,24 and 48 hrs0. It is quite clear from the obtained results that haemolymph volume was significantly decreased at 12,24 and 48 hrs post treatment. These values were 2.32, 1.56 and 4.68 ul/larva as compared to 2.71, 7.38 and 13.44ul/larva, respectively, in the control groups.
A Significant increase in the haemolymph density was observed only at 12 hrs post treatment. On the other hand, there is no significant differences in the haemolymph density in both treated and untreated, larvae at 6, 24, and 48 hrs post treatment.
Our results revealed that the mean of total haemocyte counts in the treated larvae at all inspected times was highly significant increased.
It is clear from the present results and observations that there was a marked variation in the hemocyte percentages of treated and untreated larvae at different time intervals. .in general , in the case of treated larvae an increase in the percentage of plasmocytes and spherulocytes was detected. On the other hand , a pronounced decrease in the percentage of prohaemocytes, granulocytes and oenoctoids in the blood circulation at all time intervals was observed in the treated larvae as compared to untreated ones.
