ABSTRACT
Four nursery treatments were conducted throguh 2-year-trial (1990 & 1991) where "Le Conte" pear t ransplants were grown in one of the following soils (a) unsterilized soil 1control f, (b) sterilized soil using 2% formalin solution, (c) sterilized soil • inoculated w^th G1omus macrocarpum fungi, and (d) sterilized soil inoculated with G1omus australe fungi.
Generally, soil inoculation with mycorrh- izae fungi enhanced transplant. growth and encouraged the development of lateral shoots and roots. Also, leaf phosphorusf zincf iron and copper content were improved due to mycorrh- izal inoculation. Glomus macrocarpum fungi exerted more stimulus effect than G1omus australe one.
