Abstract:

As defined by ABET, student outcomes (SOs) describe what students are expected to know and be able to do by the time of graduation. These relate to the skills, knowledge, and behaviors that students acquire as they progress through the program [1]. Student outcomes of the electrical engineering program at the college of engineering at PSAU are expected to be acquired by the students through different courses in the curriculum of the program. Those SOs, are designed to foster the achievement of the Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) through the professional interaction of its graduates with the industry and society. The student outcomes assessment process provides a means for continuously improving the learning experience for students. Such process is used to assess all the required and elective courses including critical courses such as Field Training course (EE9990) and Graduation Project course (EE4990). In this paper, we will show how such assessment and evaluation can be deliberately and systematically conducted in the context of an electrical engineering program. It presents a spreadsheet dedicated to graduation project that provides effective guidance to faculty on the assessment and evaluation of the student outcomes addressed by the graduation project and shows how the results of this evaluation lead to the efforts towards continuous improvement through the student outcomes.
