Abstract:

In this paper, the effect of the instant of switching on the peak values of the transient current following starting of a 3-phase induction motor from a voltage-source inverter (VSI) is investigated. The variation of the peak current, up to the sixth peak, as the Instant of switching changes is obtained. The results obtained from a stepped-voltage waveform are in very close agreement with these obtained from the fundamental component of the stepped-waveform.
