BU celebrates the launching of third phase of the national strategy of corruption fighting 2023-2030 in cooperation with the Administrative Control Authority and Qualubia governorate.
This takes place in accordance with the Anti-corruption international day in the presence of Prof.Dr. Gamal Sosa, BU president, major general, Abdel Hamid EL-Hagan, Qualubia governor, Dr. major general, Mohamed Salama, the deputy of the Administrative Control Authority and the head of the national academy of Anti-Corruption, major general, Khalid Nabil Foaud, the head of the Administrative Control Authority in Qualubia, colonel, Ahmed Hani Ammar, the member of the Administrative Control Authority in Qualubia, the vice presidents, the governorate's main figure, the faculties' deans, the University secretary-general, the assistant secretary-generals, a number of public figures, the faculties' members, the employees and the students.
Prof.Dr. Gamal Sosa, BU president says that Egypt celebrates the international anti-corruption day in this year while it is stronger than ever before as a result of its people awareness, the comprehensive strategy of anti-corruption and the full support of his Excellency Mr. president/ Abdel Fattah EL-Sisi who wholeheartedly stand in the side of efforts exerted to put an end to any corrupt person.
Sosa announces that the national strategy of the anti-corruption 2023-2030 is finally released in cooperation with the Administrative Control Authority and Qualubia governorate. This is done to continue the University's efforts to fulfill the aims of the national strategy of anti-corruption which started back in 2014 to 2018 (the first phase) and continued in 2019 to 2022 (the second phase) to now launch the third phase from 2023-2030.
Sosa stresses that the corruption has bad effects on the each and every aspect of the society. It endangers the social and economic aspects and limits the foundations of democratic institutions and implementation of law. He also indicates that corruption fighting, transparency support and institutions empowerment is a very important thing to achieve the aims of the sustainable development. He contends that the corruption hinders prosperity and growth and increases the poverty rates indicating that the fighting corruption system has been developed since 2014. The Egyptian state, thus, has adopted the policy of reinforcing the principles of transparency and integrity in addition to refusing the various types of corruption. The Egyptian constitution set forth that the state is fully committed to fight corruption and University, from its part, is keen to spread out the culture of fighting corruption, clarifying its reasons and effects and showcasing the ways of its fighting.
BU president shows the University's efforts to implement the national strategy of fighting corruption and spread out the principles of transparency and integrity by carrying out many actions that aims at reforming and raising the awareness of the University's students; such as teaching anti-corruption curriculums and having ethical codes put into action by the faculties' members and the students during their professional career with regard to fighting corruption.
In his speech, BU president thanks his Excellency Mr. president/ Abdel Fattah EL-Sisi for his consistent support shown in his exerted efforts to fight corruption and support the values of transparency and integrity. He also heaps praise on Egypt good officials in the Administrative Control Authority under the presidency of the major general, Amr Adel, the head of the Administrative Control Authority, Mohamed Salama, the deputy of the Administrative Control Authority and the head of the national academy of Anti-Corruption, major general, Khalid Nabil Foaud, the head of the Administrative Control Authority in Qualubia, colonel, Ahmed Hani Ammar, the member of the Administrative Control Authority in Qualubia and the other member of the Administrative Control Authority for their big roles to fight corruption.
He concludes by saying that everyone is concerned to fight corruption and the University aims to have an enlightened and aware generation who takes pride in himself and his country. He directly addresses the youth saying: "protect your country and ever never let anyone rob you of your potentials".
Major general, Abdel Hamid Hagan, Qualubia governorate says that he is happy to have this annual meeting to be held once again in Benha University to celebrate the anti-corruption international day in order to fulfill the aims of the national strategy of fighting corruption launched by his excellency Mr. president/ Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in 2014 to fight corruption and spread out the principles of transparency and integrity. This strategy is applauded by the UN as one of the effective practices of fighting corruption.
The celebration in this year focuses on the close relationship between fighting corruption and peace and security implementation as the corruption hinders the ways to have peace and security, slows down the growth of the economy and de-stabilizing the government.
He continues by saying that fighting corruption is a right and an obligation for everyone in the society stressing that the officials in the Administrative Control Authority and the national Academy of fighting corruption plays great role to fight corruption for its bad effect on the de-stabilization of the pillars of the development and weakening the Administrative system.
Dr. major general/ Mohamed Salama, the deputy of the Administrative Control Authority and the head of the national academy of fighting corruption truly expresses his joy for being in Benha University heaping praise on the importance of the meeting's awareness significance.
He shows the aims of the national academy of fighting corruption which include the following; having an effective and efficient administrative system that can provide high quality services to the citizen and the investor alike, providing a proper legislative and judicial workplace supporting the anti-corruption policies and the quick justice, having powerful authorities so as to be able to fight corruption and implement law, having an aware society to be able to fight corruption and ensuring a regional and international cooperation to fight it.
Salama also defines and classifies the various types of the corruption showing that corruption is the misuse of power to achieve personal gains. He also contends that it has so many bad effects politically, economically, socially and psychologically and he asserts that the development and fighting corruption is complementary. He says that there is a constitutional evidence to fight corruption showing that Egypt's constitution in 2014 is responsible for fighting corruption using the supervising mechanisms of the state as per the legislative, executive and judicial authorities.
He also showcases the role played by the Administrative Control authority in fighting corruption, supporting the values of transparency and integrity and preserving the public money. He does so while highlighting the role played by the national academy of fighting corruption by raising the awareness of the people.
He stresses that Benha University is keen on consistently putting the aims of the national strategy of fighting corruption into action and it is always a great and effective platform to raise the awareness of the University's students of the corruption-related issues.
It's noteworthy that the celebration starts with the playing the national anthem, reciting holy Quran and playing a video that shows the University's efforts in spreading out the values of transparency and integrity, raising the awareness of the corruption bad effects and presenting some tips about the corruption types and the ways of avoiding it.
Prof.Dr. Ahmed Samir, the coordinator of the central committee of transparency and integrity in the University plays, in the celebration, a presentation that shows the university's effort in spreading out the values of transparency and integrity and raising the awareness of the corruption's effects in the light of the national strategy of fighting corruption 2019/2022.
