Benha University Advances 105 Places Globally in the Scientific Impact Index in the Open Edition of the Leiden Dutch Ranking 2024

Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, announced the university 's advancement in the scientific impact index in the Dutch ranking "Leiden Open Edition" (CWTS Leiden Ranking Open Edition) for 2024. s Dutch ranking, advancing 105 places from the previous edition.
The university ranked 1033rd among 1506 universities worldwide included in this year 's Dutch ranking, advancing 105 places from the previous edition.
El-Gizawy added that the university ranked 10th locally among 15 Egyptian universities classified this year.
In Africa, the university ranked 32nd among 43 classified universities, and it holds the second position locally according to the citation rate of research in the top 10% (PP top 10%).
The university president noted that the university achieved 900th place in the collaboration index and advanced 69 places in the index for publishing in open-access journals.
Additionally, it ranked 900th in the gender diversity index, also advancing 69 places globally.
The international scientific publishing in the fields of physical and engineering sciences, medical and biological sciences, and computer science has contributed to the university 's position in this edition of the ranking.
It is noteworthy that the Leiden Open Edition ranking evaluates research published as scientific articles or reference works indexed in the OpenAlex database and published in the top 1%, 5%, 10%, and 50% of global journals.
The ranking uses a set of bibliometric indicators that provide statistics at the university level regarding scientific impact, collaboration, and publication in open-access journals, while the Leiden ranking relies on the Web of Science database.
The policies adopted by the university to support and encourage scientific research and international publication through various programs have contributed to the university 's appearance in this ranking.
The university aims to increase the rates of scientific publication for the intellectual output of faculty members and researchers in journals within the top 1% and 5% of scientific journals in various disciplines,given its impact on many international rankings of the university.
