The President of Benha University Participates in a Workshop on "Investment in Higher Education and Scientific Research"

Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, participated in the workshop titled "Investment in Higher Education and Scientific Research," attended by Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Mr. Hossam Heiba, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones, along with the secretaries of the Supreme Council of Universities, the Council of Private and National Universities, and various university presidents and ministry leaders.
This workshop is part of the implementation of the Egyptian state' s policy aimed at facilitating investment procedures and highlighting investment advantages across all sectors.
Prof. Ayman Ashour confirmed that the higher education system is witnessing significant expansion due to unprecedented support from political leadership to accommodate the increasing demand for university education.
He pointed out that population growth necessitates the expansion of various universities and emphasized the importance of universities offering modern interdisciplinary programs that meet the requirements of the local, regional, and international job markets.
The Minister of Higher Education reviewed some investment models applied in prestigious international universities to benefit Egyptian universities, showcasing the ministry' s efforts to support investment in higher education and scientific research.
Prof. Ayman Ashour also highlighted the importance of continuing partnerships with renowned foreign universities to maximize benefits for developing the educational and research system in Egypt, as well as collaborating and integrating with various academic, research, and industrial institutions in line with achieving the goals of the National Strategy for Higher Education and Scientific Research and Egypt' s Vision 2030.
Mr. Hossam Heiba, CEO of the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones, presented a presentation via video conference, which included an overview of the investment map in Egypt and various investment systems for universities to benefit from. He emphasized the importance of universities developing their resources, optimizing the use of their assets and infrastructure, providing rental spaces and lands at reasonable prices for investors, and collaborating with public and private institutions and civil society organizations, as well as protecting the intellectual property of scientific research for faculty members and students.
Mr. Hossam Heiba pointed out the importance of offering specialized modern programs that meet the job market requirements, which contribute to attracting students to enroll in universities, providing practical training for students in collaboration with various companies, and offering distinguished dual-degree programs in cooperation with major prestigious universities, in addition to attracting international students to study at Egyptian universities, supporting the implementation of applied scientific research, and co-funding research projects. He welcomed collaboration between the authority and universities on projects of mutual interest.
Prof. Mostafa Rifaat, Secretary of the Supreme Council of Universities, emphasized the importance of achieving financial sustainability in higher education, noting the increasing student interest in enrolling in modern disciplines that meet future job needs.
He reviewed successful models from international universities that work on developing students' skills and preparing them for the job market, stressing the importance of aligning university programs with sustainable development goals and the need for integration between universities and productive and industrial institutions to enhance graduates' competitiveness in the labor market.
Prof. Abdelaziz Kinsoua, President of Alexandria University, presented the university' s experience in supporting investment efforts, highlighting its commitment to improving the quality of educational and research processes, achieving sustainability, stability, and job satisfaction. He noted that Egyptian universities possess distinguished human resources and offer modern programs in collaboration with prestigious international universities, which has attracted many international students to study at the university. Additionally, he mentioned enhancing infrastructure and information capabilities, supporting scientific research, and establishing branches of Alexandria University in South Sudan, Chad, and Malaysia.
Prof. Sayed Kandil, President of Helwan University, discussed the university' ' s experience in developing non-traditional financial resources, emphasizing the development of infrastructure and information systems, enabling electronic payment for tuition fees, and increasing the number of international students at the university.
He stated that the university aims to grow its resources, develop curricula, enhance scientific research and innovation, and engage with various academic, research, and industrial institutions.
Prof. Mohamed Sami, President of Cairo University, presented the university' s experience in developing its resources by attracting international students, offering distinguished specialized programs, investing in physical assets, creating academic programs that meet job market demands, and protecting intellectual property.
He explained that the university is implementing several important projects, including the international branch of Cairo University, Qasr El-Aini Hospitals, the new 500 500 National Cancer Institute, Thabet Thabet Hospital, and the Children' s Medical Complex.
The workshop facilitated discussions between university presidents and higher education leaders, resulting in positive and fruitful ideas supporting investment efforts in the educational and research system in Egypt for the future.
