Minister of Higher Education Approves the Timeline for Student Union Elections in Universities for the Academic Year 2024/2025

Prof. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, has approved the timeline for conducting student union elections in universities for the academic year 2024/2025.
According to the approved schedule, the nomination process will open on November 14, with the preliminary lists announced on November 17. Appeals can be submitted on November 18, and these will be reviewed on November 19.
The final lists will be published on November 20. The electoral campaigning will begin on November 21, with the first round of elections held in the faculties, followed by the counting and announcement of results on November 24.
A runoff election will take place on November 25, and elections for committee heads and their assistants at the faculty level will be held on November 26. The election for the president and vice president of the student union at the faculty level will occur on November 27, concluding with the election of committee heads, their assistants, and the president and vice president of the university student union on November 28, 2024.
Prof. Ayman Ashour has issued a decree to form the Supreme Committee for Student Union Elections for the academic year 2024/2025 to oversee and monitor the electoral process across universities nationwide.
Additionally, Prof. Ayman Ashour has communicated with university presidents to take the necessary measures as outlined in the executive regulations to conduct student elections within universities, with each university required to submit a comprehensive report on the electoral process upon its completion.
It is noteworthy that student elections are conducted in accordance with Prime Ministerial Decree No. 2523 of 2017, which amended certain provisions of the executive regulations of the Universities Organization Law, issued by Law No. 49 of 1972, as well as the financial and administrative regulations for student unions in universities issued by Ministerial Decree No. 352 of 2019.
