Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, announced the commencement of the first phase of the energy efficiency improvement project at the university, funded by the German Development and Reconstruction Bank. This initiative is part of Egyptian-German cooperation aimed at installing elements and units to enhance the use of clean and renewable energy in 18 Egyptian universities.
The project involves the installation of smart energy meters on the main electrical panels in several university faculties, which will measure energy consumption hourly in the targeted college buildings, paving the way for the installation of clean energy stations for these buildings.
Prof. Ali Abdel Aziz, Director of the Energy Unit at the university and project coordinator, indicated that the faculties targeted in this phase are the Faculty of Commerce, the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Engineering in Shubra, and the Faculty of Nursing.
It is worth noting that an advisory committee from the Supreme Council of Universities visited these faculties to select suitable buildings for the project.
