Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, inaugurated the seminar on human rights titled "Challenges and Achievements," attended by Prof. El Sayed Fouda, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, and featuring Major General Mohamed Higazy.
he seminar was attended by Prof. Osama Salah, Dean of the Faculty of Sports Science, Prof. Ibrahim Rajeh, Executive Director of the Crisis and Disaster Management Unit at the university, alongside coordination and organization by Mrs. Rania Moataz, Assistant Secretary of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Hani Zakaria, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Sports Science for Community Service and Environmental Development, Prof. Ahmed Nagib, Deputy General Supervisor of the Leaders Preparation Center, journalist Ibrahim Gouda, who supervises the university's media office, and university students.
Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy emphasized that the Egyptian state is keen on applying human rights standards across various fields. He pointed out that over the past ten years, the higher education system has witnessed significant advancements, with 120 different universities now providing services to students, preparing them for the labor market and equipping them to compete at both local and international levels.
He added that health is one of the main areas of human rights, highlighting successful efforts to develop the health system. He noted that Benha University Hospitals have seen substantial improvements recently, with investments reaching 600 million Egyptian pounds for upgrading facilities and purchasing modern medical equipment to provide comprehensive healthcare for patients.
Prof. El-Gizawy referred to several presidential initiatives launched by the Egyptian state that support and achieve the goals of the National Human Rights Strategy, including the "Decent Life" initiative aimed at developing rural villages, which has been praised by the international community for its success in eliminating several informal areas and alleviating the burden on citizens through various developmental projects.
He also mentioned the "New Beginning for the Egyptian Citizen Development" initiative, which aims to bring about changes in the health, social, and educational aspects of the Egyptian citizen, improving quality of life and investing in human capital to achieve comprehensive sustainable development.
The university president urged students not to be swayed by rumors spread by certain social media platforms and media outlets regarding the status of human rights in some countries, affirming that the university is committed to raising students' awareness to cultivate generations that embody values of belonging and loyalty to their homeland.
Major General Mohamed Higazy presented a lecture on the concept of human rights, types of human rights, international treaties, and the challenges of implementing human rights globally. During the seminar, a discussion ensued between Major General Higazy and the students, where he addressed their inquiries to clarify the state's direction in establishing human rights values.
