Benha University in the QS Sustainability Rankings for 2025

Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, announced the university's appearance in the QS Sustainability Rankings for 2025, where Benha University ranked among 1,744 universities worldwide included in this year' s classification, placing it in the range of 1201-1250 globally.
Prof. El-Gizawy added that the university's policies and its long-standing commitment to achieving the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals have significantly contributed to its ranking improvement among local, regional, and international universities regarding its commitment to sustainable development goals.
This includes the British Times ranking and the Indonesian ranking of green, environmentally friendly universities, and now the QS Sustainability Ranking.
The university has also adopted a strategy to reduce carbon emissions, which involves all university sectors and aligns with the National Climate Change Strategy 2050 and Egypt's Vision for Sustainable Development 2030.
He clarified that the QS Sustainability Ranking relies on three main indicators:
• Environmental Impact, which includes three sub-indicators and accounts for 45% of the total ranking;
• Social Impact, which includes five sub-indicators and also represents 45% of the total ranking;
• Governance, which accounts for 10% of the total ranking.
Prof. Jehan Abdel-Hadi, Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, noted that the university ranked 14th locally among 26 Egyptian universities classified this year. In Africa, it ranked 38th among 70 institutions classified.
She added that the university ranked 899th globally in the Environmental Impact index, over +1001 globally in the Social Impact index, and over +1001 globally in the Governance index.
