Under the auspices of Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, and Prof. El-Sayed Foda, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental Development, Benha University organized, in collaboration with the National Council for Women, an awareness seminar for students to enhance understanding of the council'
s services and the role of units combating violence against women in universities.
The seminar was attended by:
• Prof. Nevin Sayed Abd El-Sabour, Director of the Violence Against Women Unit at the university;
• Mrs. Rania Moataz, Assistant Secretary of the University for Community Service and Environmental Development;
• Mrs. Rania Taha, Director of the Strategic Planning Department at the National Council for Women;
• Mrs. Marwa Foda, Director of Projects at the National Council for Women; and
• Mrs. Sherine Barakat, Chairperson of the National Council for Women in Kalyobiya.
The seminar covered introductory lectures about the services of the National Council for Women, its establishment, and the services provided by the free complaints office, including the complaint process and the confidentiality of data for women who visit the office.
The seminar addressed forms of violence against women and its negative impact due to harmful traditions such as female genital mutilation, child marriage, and Cyberbullying, along with their causes and how to combat them.
A video was also presented illustrating the role of the units combating violence against women in Egyptian universities.
The seminar also highlighted the safe unit for women at Benha University Hospital, which provides necessary support for abused women through medical and psychological assistance.
