Prof. Nasser El-Gizawy, President of Benha University, announced the hosting of Prof. Janet Eliza Beth Fisher, a fish specialist from the University of Georgia, USA, until next March.
Prof. El-Gizawy pointed out that the visit comes within the framework of the Fulbright program for American professors, which allows Egyptian universities to host American professors in various scientific disciplines for teaching and conducting research in collaboration with their Egyptian counterparts.
Prof. Jehan Abdel-Hadi, Vice President of the University for Postgraduate Studies and Research, added that Benha University is keen to encourage such visits and open up to the world to exchange experiences between university professors and prestigious universities, thereby opening new horizons for scientific and research collaboration in various fields.
Prof. Mahmoud El-Zablawi, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture in Moshtohor, stated that Prof. Janet, from the University of West Georgia, is among the specialists in fish biology. There will be an exchange of expertise with Egyptian professors in fish science regarding bioflock technology and dietary immune stimulants to improve the Nile tilapia's resistance to cold temperatures.
They will also study the feasibility of using immune-stimulating dietary additives such as Arabic Glue and a mixture of zinc and selenium, as well as bioflock technology to enhance growth and survival rates of tilapia exposed to low temperatures.
Prof. Mohamed Shaaban, Head of the Animal Production Department and a fish professor at the Faculty of Agriculture in Moshtohor, indicated that during the visit, Prof. Janet is scheduled to give several lectures to university students.
